Eyewear District celebrates 130 years of activity

On Friday, 8 May, Mido hosted the presentation of the “Bellunese Eyewear” competition which is open to all secondary school students from the province of Belluno. The competition is promoted by Assindustria Belluno, the Belluno Young Businessmen’s Group and by Sipao in collaboration with Anfao-Mido and the Eyewear Museum, and is sponsored by the Italian Government, the Veneto Regional Government, the Belluno Provincial Government and the Local Board of Education.
A total of 6 scholarships will be awarded to original projects presented by young people in two categories: Marketing and Design. In the first category, the students will be asked to create a slogan that will promote eyewear and in the second, to design an innovative pair of glasses.
?The intent is to bond our young people to our core business, which is the eyewear industry in the Belluno valley ?, explained Valentino Vascellari, president of Assindustria Belluno who then added ?the Eyewear Museum is part of this idea and will be displaying the winning projects until the end of the celebrations for the 130th anniversary of the first eyewear produced in Italy ?.
Sipao CEO Valter Da Rin pointed out how ?the heart of the Dolomites is still beating strong and after 130 years still leads the way in the global eyewear industry ?. ?We should remind young people where our pioneers started, to remind them what our DNA is, by making them visit the Eyewear Museum and Certottica, an example of quality ? Da Rin ended.
