The brand was launched in 1967 when Ralph Lauren purchased the name from Brooks Brothers , for whom he worked at the time. In 1968 he started a line of men's ties. By 1969 he had a boutique store within the Manhattan department store Bloomingdale's . In 1971, Polo Ralph Lauren launched its first women's collection and his first standalone store in Beverly Hills, California .Ten years later, in 1981, the brand went global with its first international store on London's ,England, New Bond Street. The Polo Sport line came about in 1993. The brand now produces clothing, accessories, fragrances, and operates the restaurant RL in Chicago, and sponsors a Harlem cancer center in association with Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center . The flagship store is now located in the Rhinelander Mansion 867 Madison Avenue at 72nd Street, also in New York City. POLO RALPH LAUREN presents new sunglasses of innovative design and particularly original colours for the next season. The new proposals of the "POLO" line are animated with unprecedented ?regimental stripes? inspired by the clothing and accessories. They are engraved in sharp shades of black-grey, wine red-black, grey-brown, and glossy black. Several models are given emphasis by original colour effects with colourful strips, whereas the more classic frames are characterised by the pony logo in precision casted metal. Of particularly fine quality are the titanium sunglasses in the subdued shades of dark ruthenium, brown, and wine red-ruthenium. The new optical frames are particularly interesting, with their tiny screws, exposed studs and regimental stripes that decorate the temples of the acetate models with pleasing contrasts in shades of dark blue-yellow, black-orange, green-khaki, red-aviation blue, and white-blue. The new ?RALPH"silhouette for ladies, identified by the "RL-block" logo perforated on metal plates, is offered in classic shades: ivory-opal white, red-dark blue, fuchsia-pink, and dark blue-blue.
